Erin grew up in Gallatin County in Southern Illinois and has lived in Macon County since 1993. She graduated from SIU in 1980 with a Journalism degree, worked in Eldorado and Harrisburg and at the Mt. Zion Region News. She retired in 2015 from Township Officials of Illinois, where she was associate editor of the magazine Township Perspective. She is married to Bill Valentine, has a son, stepdaughter and five grandchildren. She enjoys delivering for Meals on Wheels, helping at Good Samaritan Inn, and church activities, especially singing in the choir. Erin feels blessed to live in Long Creek Township.
